Araghchi warns EU over support for Israeli aggression

Iran’s FM Abbas Araghchi warned the EU against supporting Israeli aggression and criticized the US for betraying diplomacy.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned the European Union against what he called a “destructive approach” toward Iran’s nuclear program and the support shown by some European countries for Israeli aggression. He stated that such actions would only complicate the situation and obstruct diplomatic progress.

During a phone call with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Tuesday, Araghchi criticized the leniency of certain governments toward the violations and crimes committed by the Zionist regime. He stressed that all governments have a duty to condemn the military aggression carried out by Israel and the United States against Iran.

Araghchi specifically pointed to the open support from Germany and other European states for the attacks, warning that any statements that implicitly justify these violations of international law would amount to complicity in war crimes.

He emphasized Iran’s unwavering defense of its territorial integrity and national security in the face of Israeli and American aggression. Araghchi described the attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities and the killing of civilians as a severe blow to diplomacy, the non-proliferation framework, and UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

He affirmed that Iran’s Armed Forces are fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty. “When the Zionist regime stopped its attacks, we also halted our defensive operations as a sign of goodwill,” he said, adding that Iran neither started the war nor seeks to prolong it.

Araghchi reiterated Iran’s deep mistrust of the United States, stating that the Israeli and US attacks occurred while Iran was engaged in diplomatic talks, and that it was Washington that undermined the process.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Kaja Kallas acknowledged that there is no evidence Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons. She emphasized the importance of a diplomatic resolution to the nuclear issue and expressed support for efforts to de-escalate tensions and stabilize the region.
